Join us in celebrating National Wildlife Refuge Week, with a Walk for the Wild!
Registration Notes:
Registration is free. Use the plus sign on the registation page to enter the amount of people that are registering. A fundraising page will be created for you. Fundraising is optional, but we ask that you complete the free registration so that your participation for Hackmatack NWR is counted. Thank you!
Take a 5K walk with Friends of Hackmatack NWR on the Prairie Trail in Richmond. We will visit an oak savanna that has been restored by our volunteers and high school students and spread native seed there. As we walk the trail north, you will learn about wildlife activity in our region this fall and how to help them this winter, take a look at the new 985-acre parcel purchased for the refuge, and we’ll stop for refreshments at the refuge’s Blackmon Tract before heading back to the high school.
The public is welcome to participate for free, but we encourage you to support our mission and pledge any amount toward our fundraising efforts. Your support helps our Friends Group reach out to more people in our region to learn about, visit, explore and help restore Hackmatack NWR, the refuge in our own backyard.
