Join us in celebrating National Wildlife Refuge Week, with a Walk for the Wild!

From the High School we will walk to the Prairie Trail, heading down to the Blackmon Tract of Hackmatack NWR. On the way, we’ll stop at the prairie and oak savanna north of the high school that Friends of Hackmatack NWR with help from the high school’s students has restored. Blackmon Tract is a beautiful 11-acre piece of Hackmatack NWR featuring a restored oak savanna and an accessible trail to an overlook of the site’s wetlands. We’ll take a break for refreshments here before heading back to the high school.

The public is welcome to participate for free, but we encourage you to support our mission and pledge any amount toward our fundraising efforts. Walk for the Wild is a national event, and we have entered our Team on the national website.
