Village of Spring Grove Hatchery Park

You are invited to join fellow Friends of Hackmatack NWR members for a tour of Spring Grove’s Hatchery Park. Located at the site of the first Illinois state fish hatchery, the site features fishing (catch & release), a walking path around the hatchery’s spring-fed ponds, picnic pavilions and the historic restored hatchery buildings. FOHNWR Board Member Ron Erdmann has dubbed this site “the Central Park of Spring Grove.” Spring Grove Village Trustee Bob McMahon will lead a tour of the site.

Registration is limited to 30. to reserve your spot. Parking fees for out-of-town visitors will be covered. You are encouraged to bring a bag dinner or snack and to stay and enjoy the park after the tour. (Adult beverages are allowed.) If you want to bring your fishing pole to test the waters, you do need to have a fishing license. Dress for the weather.
