Projects: Developing & Supporting the Refuge
The Friends of Hackmatack depend on volunteer work to accomplish the many projects that help develop and maintain our refuge. We are able to achieve far more when we work together.
In addition to our dedicated volunteers, we rely on a wide network of partners who make our work possible. Our environmental partners provide both additional volunteers and critical financial support. Our business partners—including companies, organizations, and public entities—help fund our efforts and ensure the long-term success of the refuge.
Stewardship Workdays
We welcome individuals to pitch in and make a difference on the refuge! Our workdays give people a chance to be outdoors, see the refuge sites, meet new people, and get some exercise. Some of our activities include sowing seed, cutting buckthorn, hauling brush & burning brush, pulling invasive plants, and planting native plants.
