9-11 AM
On the Prairie Trail, Richmond, IL
We invite you to join us for a 5K walk on the Prairie Trail on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 am – 11 am. We’ll meet up in the north parking lot at Richmond Burton Community High School, 8311 State Rte 31, Richmond, Illinois and head north for our walk. We’ll first stop at the oak savanna and prairies at the northside of the school property to view the results of our restoration efforts there. From there we’ll head onto the Prairie Trail and walk to another Hackmatack NWR site that volunteers also helped to restore — the 11-acre Blackmon Tract, located along the trail across Rte 12 from Richmond’s Village Hall. We’ll take a refreshment break here before heading back to the high school.
Walking in nature is a perfect gateway to getting outside, and October’s fall colors are a perfect time for a brisk morning walk!
Be sure to dress for the weather and for a 3.1 mile walk. Bring your water bottle, please. If you plan to join us, we’d appreciate it if you’d register here so we can plan our refreshments:
