6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Tryon Grove Site
Please RSVP so that we can plan for food. Thank you!
We recommend you wear sturdy walking shoes and bring your own water bottle. Dress for the weather with a hat for shade if the day is sunny. We’d appreciate it if you would bring your own lawn chair; we’ll have some extras to share too. Note: there are no restroom facilities at these sites.
Join us on the newest addition to the refuge, located on Tryon Grove Road in Richmond. We will park and gather at the site on Tryon Grove Rd., meeting at 6:00 PM. Watch for signs on the road, and see the link on Google Maps here: https://goo.gl/maps/wdseQKxDkWjSfqf47
Cassie Scaggs, our Refuge Manager, will talk about the Refuge, giving us an update on the newest properties acquired, bringing our total acreage to 535.83. Paul Bruett and Pete Jackson, Board Members, will update us on the restoration efforts, the Nicor Grant, and our plans moving forward with restoration.
We will provide & grill hot dogs at the the site, as well as chips, watermelon and lemonade, for a picnic dinner.
Following dinner, we will walk across the street to Tamarack West, the 165-acre parcel that borders Glacial Park to the south. Our stewardship crew has been working hard to restore three savannas, and where wetlands and headwater streams are to be restored.
President Steve Byers will brief us on the Nippersink Creek Restoration Project (Congresswoman Underwood’s funding). The Fall Gathering will end at approx. 8:00 PM.
We look forward to fun & informative Gathering!
